Constitution Day Celebration – November 26, 2025

Overview

  • Constitution Day 2025 was observed at Star School on 26 November to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1949.
  •  The celebration, themed “Hamara Samvidhan – Hamara Swabhiman” (“Our Constitution – Our Pride”), aimed to deepen students’ understanding of constitutional values, rights and duties ¹.

Programme Highlights

  • Morning Assembly – Ms Faiza’s extempore speech covered the key constitutional facts in a compact way:
    • Adopted on 26 Nov 1949, came into force on 26 Jan 1950.
    • Constituent Assembly: started with 389 members, reduced to 299 after Partition; 284 members signed on 24 Jan 1950.
    • Chief architect: Dr B. R. Ambedkar chaired the Drafting Committee.
    • Hand‑written calligraphy: Prem Behari Narain Raizada wrote the English text.
    • Illustrations: Artists from Santiniketan, notably Nand Lal Bose, decorated the manuscript.
    • Preamble values: Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity – the four pillars enshrined in the Preamble.
  • Short Skit on Fundamental Rights
  • Students from classes 5, 6 and 8 performed a joint skit illustrating real‑life situations of the six Fundamental Rights (Right to Equality, Right to Freedom, Right against Exploitation, Right to Freedom of Religion, Cultural and Educational Rights, Right to Constitutional Remedies).
  • The performance was well‑received and sparked discussion among peers.
  • Quiz Competition

    A rapid‑fire quiz was held covering key facts about the Constitution. The questions included:

  • Which Constitution is the longest‑written in the world?
    • Name four values the Constitution upholds.
    • Chairman of the Drafting Committee?
    • Date of Constitution Day?
    • Part containing Fundamental Rights?
    • Article abolishing untouchability?
    • When was the Constitution adopted?
  • Seminar
    • Ms Farheen Sultana conducted a seminar on “Understanding Our Constitution”, linking its provisions to daily life and current national goals.
    • The session included interactive discussion on the theme “Hamara Samvidhan – Hamara Swabhiman
  • Observations

The event was highly engaging — students actively participated in the skit, quiz and seminar, demonstrating a keen interest in constitutional literacy. The inclusion of a multi‑class skit allowed younger learners (class 5) to interact with older students (class 8), fostering peer‑learning. Teachers noted that the extempore speech by Ms Faiza was particularly impactful as it combined historical facts with contemporary relevance.
