National Mathematics Day, – December 22, 2025

Introduction

  • The Star School observed National Mathematics Day on 22 December 2025 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the eminent Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
  • The celebration aimed to foster interest in mathematics and highlight its importance in developing logical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and analytical skills among students.

Objectives

  • To create awareness about the significance of mathematics in academics and daily life
  • To introduce students to the life and contributions of Srinivasa Ramanujan
  • To encourage mathematical curiosity and confidence among students

Programme Highlights

  • The celebrations began with a Special Assembly, which included a prayer, an introduction to the importance of the day, and a brief talk on Srinivasa Ramanujan’s remarkable contributions to mathematics. Students actively participated and displayed enthusiasm throughout the programme.

Class-wise Activities

Primary Classes (I–V):

  • Students participated in fun math activities, such as number games, counting activities, basic puzzles, and math-based worksheets. These activities helped young learners develop interest in mathematics through play-based learning.

Middle School (VI–VIII):

  • Students engaged in math quizzes, puzzles, riddles, and mental math challenges. Chart-making activities on famous mathematicians, mathematical symbols, and formulas were also conducted to enhance conceptual understanding.

Secondary Classes (IX–X):

  • Students took part in problem-solving sessions, logical reasoning tasks, and real-life application–based questions. Short presentations on Srinivasa Ramanujan’s life, discoveries, and inspiration to young mathematicians were also delivered.
  • Educational displays showcasing important formulas, mathematical concepts, and practical applications of mathematics were exhibited across classrooms, making the learning experience interactive and informative.

Conclusion

  • The National Mathematics Day celebrations at The Star School were engaging, informative, and inspiring. The class-wise activities ensured active participation from students of all age groups, reinforcing the relevance and beauty of mathematics.
